Language Features of News Item
- Focusing on circumstances (using a simple language in writing the text)
- Using material process
- Use action verbs to retell the events
- Using saying verbs (Said, Told, reported, informed)
- Using adverb of time, adverb of place, adverb of manner
- Sometimes at the beginning of news , the scene is mentioned : Jakarta- .... .../ London - .....
- Short, telegraphic information about story captured in headline
- Using past tense in explaining news events. But if it is a fact that until now still happen or still in the form of a fact, the can use simple present tense. Past tense Present perfect tense, and future tense.
Past Tense (Simple Past Tense)
