What is a News Item Text?

News Item Text is a text which inform readers about events of the day. The events that are conveyed to the reader are events that are considered important and should be made into news. 

Purpose.

The communicative purpose of this type of text is or inform readers, listeners, or viewers about events or tragedics that are currently happening.

Generic Structure 

  1. Newsworthy event(s): recount the event in summary form
  2. Background events(s): elaborate what happened, to whom, in what circumstance
  3. Sources: comment by participants in witnesses to and authorities expert on the event
Language Features of News Item 
  • Focusing on circumstances 
  • Using material process
  • Using action verbs 
  • Using saying vers 
  • Using adverb of time, adverb of place, adverb of manner
  • Using Present perfect tense, Past Tense, and Future Tense.

Puting Beliung Shattered Houses in Surabaya
